Job Description
Ares Management is looking to hire an Analyst into its Real Estate Portfolio Management team based in Amsterdam.
Primary functions and essential responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day operations of Ares’ European Real Estate Funds, including (but not limited to) tracking capital movements, monitoring Fund performance metrics, and supporting coordination between internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain, enhance and in due course own the Fund-level financial underwriting models, including preparation of (quarterly) cash flow forecasting, capital planning, valuations and return metrics. Ensure models are accurate, reliable, and scalable.
- Conduct detailed analyses of the Fund’s real estate portfolio to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities. Deliver insights through well-structured Excel models and PowerPoint presentations.
- Prepare clear, data-driven reports on Fund performance, AUM Metrics and KPIs for both internal teams and external investors. Support investor Q&A and help refine communication tools and dashboards.
- Assist in preparing annual Fund Business Plans and Budgets. Compile and maintain Fund-level data for internal and external use.
- Support the Portfolio Management team in addressing key asset-level topics including leasing, capex planning, and strategy evaluation.
- Collaborate with fellow analysts and team members, contributing to a supportive and high-performance culture. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and training.
- Learn from senior members of the Portfolio Management team and apply best practices in compliance, reporting, and investor relation & communication. Engage with teams across the company to stay informed and up to date on the portfolio.
- Grow your technical and analytical expertise with increasing ownership of core deliverables. This role offers a clear path towards becoming a Portfolio Management Associate
Qualifications
Education:
- A master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Econometrics or any related field.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- 1-2 years of working experience, for example in private equity, corporate finance, investment banking or M&A with an interest in real estate.
- Excellent analytical skills, including assets and portfolio level underwriting experience in Excel or other Real Estate modelling/forecasting tools.
- Outstanding proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint. Demonstrates a strong ability to translate complex Excel models into clear, compelling investment decks.
- Strong presentation skills and reporting skills.
- Solid foundation in accounting and ability to analyse financial statements.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently but also as part of a small and larger team.
- Willingness to travel abroad from time to time.
- Fluency in English, speaking and writing.
- Knowledge of a second European language (Dutch, French, German, Spanish, Italian).
- Knowledge of data-analysis software and tools including PowerBI, Tableau, Python or anything related.
- Prior experience investing in industrial/logistics real estate, particularly developments or value-add;
- Prior experience investing in pan-European or global real estate;
- Prior experience with real estate debt financing
- Bright analytical thinker able to make links between the “Excel model and the real-world”.
- Willing to learn fast, take on additional responsibilities and committed to putting in the extra effort when it counts.
- Driven and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
