Purpose of the job
As our new Business Development Manager, you will play a vital role in expanding our freight forwarding business with a focus on Airfreight. You'll drive sales, manage key client relationships, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver smart, scalable logistics solutions. Your tasks will include:
- Acquiring and managing international clients with a focus on Air Freight Forwarding
- Building and promoting strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs
- Achieving growth with existing customers and hit sales targets with new customers
- Generating new (sales) leads for the program within the network (push & pull)
- Analyzing the needs and wishes of potential customers based on digital technology and create value proposals that ensure a win-win situation
- Negotiating the value proposal with both the potential customer as well as with internal stakeholders (i.e., digital solution, commercial conditions)
- Ensuring a smooth transition after the win to trading customer and ultimately to our operations team for retention and further growth
- Drafting and implementing the sales strategy plan(s) in line with the company Strategy and Business plan
- Building and maintaining excellent relations with (key) customers
- Ensuring effectiveness and success of sales incl. target setting and monitoring
- Coordinating and ensure the efficient use of systems, staff and other resources
- Coordinating, ensuring and managing margin(s) of new business
- Work according the applicable SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)
Profile

- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Economics
Minimum of 3 years' experience in B2B sales for international or medium-to-large clients
In-depth knowledge of Airfreight business development and operations
A strong deal-closer with a proactive, customer-centric approach
Experience in pricing, operational, and financial processes
Affinity with IT-driven supply chain solutions (Order & Freight Management)
Excellent communication in English and Dutch (additional European languages are a plus)
Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Self-driven, analytical, persuasive, and results-focused
Cultural awareness and a genuine interest in global logistics
