Are you ready to build the future of web games?
We are Poki! An Amsterdam based tech scale up. With our dedicated team of 60, we are on a mission to create the ultimate online playground: a platform for play where players and game developers come together to play and create. We are the global market leaders in web games with our platform Poki.com, reaching more than 90 million monthly players on all devices.
The popularity of the web as a destination for games is growing rapidly, and so is our platform. To strengthen our content catalogue and grow our game developer community, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager.
About the role:
The games on our platform are created by our thriving developer community of over 500 independent game developer teams from all over the world (such as Blumgi, Sybo, ZnK Games andFingersoft ). By working closely together we are turning small web games like Level Devil (1B+ social media impressions) and Vortella’s Dress-Up (100M plays) into global hits, played by millions of fans every single day.
As our Business Development Manager, you will build strategic partnerships with the most talented game developer teams and relevant industry partners. You combine a great feeling for games and industry trends with outstanding people skills, and enjoy the thrill of generating new business in a growing and competitive niche.
Your challenge:
- From indie developers to some of the most successful game studios of the past decade: source and sign games and developer teams that will launch the next hit on Poki. Support those game developers by offering them our competitive deal terms, customising them according to their ambitions and needs.
- Develop and execute business development tactics that fit Poki’s position as market leader on the web. Be creative with finding new acquisition channels, optimise the return-on-investment of the existing ones, with the goal to increase awareness and impact.
- Bring experience and leadership to the team. Help team members to make the right trade-offs and collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to drive business development efforts.
- Be the face of our platform - attending industry events like GDC, Pocket Gamer Connects and Gamescom. You are a web games advocate in the industry, and inform our internal product roadmap with the insights you gained in the industry.
You:
- Have 8+ years experience in the gaming industry and a proven track record in negotiating custom deals, from prospecting to dealmaking.
- Combine a gut feel for games with an analytical approach in order to identify promising games and talented game developers, and thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Have a passion for games and helping game developers be successful, allowing them to focus on what they love most: creating awesome games.
- Have an open mind to different cultures, and are able to do engage with a wide range of partners - from young hobbyists to C-level executives.
- Thrive in a community defined by personal connections, a growth mindset and trust.
- Like travelling and are able to do so on a regular basis in order to grow our global game developer community.
Bonus:
- You have worked in the casual gaming market.
- You have experience as a speaker at industry events.
- You are based in Amsterdam, or willing to relocate.
Why work at Poki:
- Direct impact on the experience of our team, both hybrid and at the office, and on our community of 500+ game developers.
- A lot of personal responsibility and freedom, plus the chance to work together with a diverse, international, talented and self-motivated team.
- Play is how we learn; we make sure everyone is being challenged and and offer an annual training budget.
- When you grow, we grow: build your career at a fast growing tech scale up. Many members of our team have been with us since their internships and are now in senior roles.
- We care about our team, and your wellbeing matters. We have a dedicated colleague who focuses on a variety of wellbeing initiatives from regular check-ins with everyone to bi-weekly massages at the office.
- An opportunity to connect with colleagues through work retreats, drinks every Thursday and team activities.
- A full-time contract (36-40 hours/week) and a competitive salary - we value our teams’ skills and experiences.
