As the Market Risk Management team of ING NL we are an energetic team of highly qualified professionals, responsible for managing the balance sheet of ING NL. We do this by hedging our interest rate and liquidity risks in close cooperation with ING Group Treasury. We maintain close relations with our business stakeholders, advise them on product and pricing changes and make them aware of all relevant (macro-economic) trends and consequences such as the developments of the interest rates in the market.
The Team
Our Market Risk Management team consists of about 30 experts with various backgrounds and nationalities, determined to deliver on ING’s strategy. We work in an agile way and we believe that empowerment is crucial for you to flourish and be successful. Since client behaviour is crucial, we forecast this with state-of-the-art modelling methods and technologies, exploring and analysing lots of data from various sources.
Besides our core ALM activities, our team is involved in strategic programs such as the full migration to the target ALM solution of ING Group built in QRM and the transfer of the mortgages administration to STATER. Furthermore, as Market Risk Management we play an important role in numerous business initiatives that affect the margin, profitability and risk profile of the products and the balance sheet of ING.
Role & Responsibilities
We are looking for a Chapter Lead Funds Entrusted & Lending who wants to develop a successful career in managing market risks.
As our new Chapter Lead you take part in the Market Risk Management Leadership Team, together with the Tribe Lead and the other Chapter Leads. Within Market Risk Management your domain of responsibility will be the market risk management of deposit-based products (current accounts, savings, and term deposits) and credit-based products (overdrafts, revolving credit) of ING NL, comprising a total volume of roughly EUR 180 billion.
You will lead a team of about 10 market risk professionals. You support and coach your team members in their personal development and you maintain and grow the required knowledge and skills within the team.
Furthermore, you create a culture in which employees take initiative and responsibility, help each other to be successful and stay a step ahead.
Because our hedges influence the cost price of our products and the P&L of ING NL, you will be a sparring partner of the business tribes in topics such as pricing, product features, the implications of hedges on the profitability and the market risks associated with the products.
You will play a central role within ING and your activities will impact ING’s overall P&L. Your success will depend on your ability to maintain good relations with our stakeholders on senior management level, i.e. CRO NL divisions, Finance, the Business Tribes, Group Financial Risk, Model Validation, Group Treasury and also our external stakeholders such as the ECB, DNB and the external auditor of ING.
As Chapter Lead of Market Risk Management, you will represent Market Risk in committees and working groups for topics related to your domain. For example, this means you will be invited to the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) NL for relevant topics and be a member of Steering Committees of business or risk initiatives.
You take part – directly or indirectly – in strategic programs and in risk and business initiatives and organize the activities within your domain in cooperation with the squads of Market Risk Management.
In summary, the position offers excellent opportunities to broaden your leadership and management skills in a truly dynamic environment of market risk / asset & liability management and making impact on ING’s overall P&L and risk profile.
