WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one of our engineering teams at the Box Sign organisation in Amsterdam. This role requires a proactive leader adept at managing high-performing teams, to deliver innovative products that are part of our business-critical systems, ensuring high quality and reliability. As an Engineering Manager, you will leverage your technical and managerial skills to guide your team’s development, ensuring their growth aligns with our strategic goals. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the entire project lifecycle—from initial planning and execution to final delivery. Additionally, you will foster strong collaborative relationships across the organisation to ensure alignment on project priorities and execution, driving collective success.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead a team of 7-9 backend and frontend engineers, ensuring a high standard of technical proficiency and teamwork.
- Maintain and enhance the quality and stability of business-critical services under your supervision.
- Ensure timely delivery of team projects aligned with company objectives.
- Provide mentorship and support career development for team members.
- Address and manage team performance effectively.
- Promote and implement technological advancements within the organisation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute the technical and product roadmap.
- Facilitate clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders to ensure project alignment and transparency.
- Manage and coordinate the team’s on-call rotation to ensure timely and effective incident response, actively participate in escalated on-call incidents to provide leadership and support, and drive improvements by addressing recurring issues to minimize disruptions.
WHO YOU ARE

- Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services.
- You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience.
- You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices.
- Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment.
- A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar.
- Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous.
- Proficient in English.
