The Europe Financial Controller plays a critical role in further establishing a world-class organization from a financial controllership and compliance perspective. You will oversee the organization’s financial reporting, ensuring that you — and the broader team — fully understand the financial flows and the underlying drivers behind the accounts. You will be responsible for ensuring that the accounts are accurate, complete, and delivered on time. The quality of these financial accounts will directly impact the company’s decision-making processes and, consequently, its ability to create
value. In addition, you will support and drive the enhancement and refinement of the internal control matrix, document key financial processes, and lead continuous improvement efforts. You will be a key participant in audits and the development of financial policies, ensuring the organization is well-prepared to support its ongoing growth. This position is central to building a world-class finance organization, with strong risk management and control capabilities. As the Europe Financial Controller, you will significantly contribute to the company’s success by leading key initiatives, working effectively with stakeholders, and developing best-in-class processes. You will also be responsible for overseeing the governance of financial and internal control requirements across the region. Your success in this role will depend on your ability to collaborate across all functions, while prioritizing the needs of both the company and its customers.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards, including movement tables.
- Create value by assessing and documenting processes, recommending improvements based on best practice studies.
- Own the full entity accounts (P&L, BS, Cashflow) and analyze financial performance and provide insights into key value drivers to senior leadership.
- Lead and continuously improve the month-end close process, including balance sheet reviews and spot checks across the business, driving enhancements in controls and general balance sheet hygiene.
- Manage and further develop the monthly controllership report, addressing ongoing projects and risks.
- Build strong relationships with finance departments and other key stakeholders
- Maintain a holistic helicopter view while also performing deep dive analyses and making correction journal entries as required.
- Further improve internal and external monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting packages.
- Drive and monitor general IT controls, application controls, and governance related to underlying financial systems and applications. Collaborate with IT and system administrators to configure access controls within systems (e.g., SAP, Eflow, SF), ensuring proper user roles and permissions to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive functions.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
- Manage internal audits and ensure that recommendations are implemented effectively.
- Support group audits and local statutory account audits.
- Maintain accounting policies, SOPs, and the Internal Controls framework, including the management of the repository of policies and SOPs.
- Build a strong relation with HQ functions
- Assist the Europe Senior Financial controller and CFO Europe with ad hoc projects
- Ability to work independently on assigned projects/programs and day- to-day operations.
- Drive and determining objectives of assignments.
- Ability to provide input to other organizations in the development of new procedures or enhancement of current processes.
- Ability to provide feedback to group of experienced individuals on performance improvement. Monitors
- Works on complex problems where analysis and/or situations require in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and evaluation of criteria for obtaining resolutions.
- Must be able to anticipate future events and situations that are likely to affect the business model and direction. Must be able to establish a plan to handle these events and situations so that they do not negatively impact cost and the business model.
- You regularly provide information, assistance, and recommendations, which are, used in the management decision-making processes. Erroneous decisions have serious impact on sales revenue and may jeopardize overall success of the business.
- You must be able to analyze certain situations and make decisions following broadly defined practices and policies.
- Certified Public Accountant (RA, FCA, ACA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent),
- Minimum 6 years working experience in finance and accounting, with an emphasis on auditing and financial reporting and Internal Controls.
- Recent big four experience an advantage
- Project leadership experience and process oriented. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task,
- 5+ years proven management skills.
- Preferable multinational, consumer product industry experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
