The role
As a Financial Controller at Damen Naval, you are responsible for financial control and further professionalization of our financial policies. You work closely with the Manager Financial Control and Business Control and contribute to reliable reporting, efficient processes, and compliant financial accounting.
Key responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities include:
- Preparing monthly and annual financial reports and overviews.
- Analyzing and interpreting financial data.
- Preparing statutory accounts (both national and international).
- Creating accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Compiling audit files and supporting external audits.
- Monitoring budgets and cost centers.
- Maintaining general ledger accounts and project accounting.
- Improving financial processes, policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Skills & experience
To excel as Financial Controller, you need to have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, Accountancy, or a similar field, combined with 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Sound knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
- Excellent skills in Excel and other financial systems; SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Experience in a project-based or technical environment, such as shipbuilding.
- Strong command of both Dutch and English (written and spoken).
- Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the application process.
- A permanent EU nationality is a requirement due to the military nature of our projects.
