Company Description
KPN’s Fixed Networks organization is comprised of 3 main departments: Fixed Core, Fixed Access and Fixed Network Planning. The Fixed Core team is responsible for the technologies that manage and control the Fixed Transport & IP networks. The Fixed Access team ensures optimal user experience through our Copper (xDSL) and Fiber networks (PON/P2P) between Core location and our end customers. Network Planning supports several teams with Program Management, Financial Planning, Partner Management and Migrations.
You will be assigned an internal mentor within the team where your graduation project will be conducted. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to gain insights and experience by observing other departments within the Fixed Networks organization.
Job Description
KPN’s Fixed Networks is responsible for the Innovation & Maintenance of our Fixed Core and Access Networks. E.g. our Copper and Fiber networks in the Netherlands and everything between them. These networks are carrying the data and IP traffic for almost all of KPN’s services.
In our continuous efforts to improve and innovate our infrastructure and services, and maintain our level of excellence, we are constantly seeking talented individuals who can contribute to our mission. This includes students interested in researching the future of Automation, IT, AI, and other fields related to Fixed Networks. An other aspect could be researching area’s of improvement in our current processes, for example how we deal with contracted partners & suppliers.
We do not offer a predefined thesis topic. Instead, we encourage you to collaborate with us and your academic institution to define a graduation project or thesis that aligns with your interests and our strategic focus. The only requirement is that the topic must be sufficiently relevant for Fixed Networks towards the future (Innovation), or to improve our current processes & insights (Maintenance).
Qualifications
We value an entrepreneurial, inquisitive, and constructively critical mindset. Furthermore, your profile includes:
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program with a strong focus on technology and/or engineering, Business Administration or similar.
- Proficiency in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- A collaborative spirit, with the ability to work independently and take ownership.

- A monthly internship allowance of €600 based on full-time participation
