Job Description
As a DevOps Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain critical infrastructure that supports KPN’s next-generation platforms. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing environments. Your day-to-day includes integration, testing, maintenance, and automation to ensure systems are production-ready. You implement and support changes across multiple environments and help provision and develop datacenter edge solutions. You’ll play a key role in ensuring 24/7 availability — including participation in on-call duties — while continuously improving systems through innovation, tooling, and automation.
Responsibilities
Automate, test, and manage virtualized infrastructure (OpenStack, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)
Collaborate with teams to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability
Implement CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Ansible, Git, and scripting languages
Apply security and compliance best practices across all layers of infrastructure
Implement and support changes in various environments, including edge provisioning
Qualifications
You thrive in complex environments where technology, automation, and collaboration come together. With a strong IT background and a natural drive to improve systems and processes, you combine technical knowledge with a practical, solution-oriented mindset. You enjoy sharing expertise, learning from others, and contributing to a high-performing team. Whether you’re scripting, fine-tuning infrastructure, or solving a critical issue — you take ownership and deliver.
To be successful in this role, you bring:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT and experience with business and operational processes
Expertise in at least two areas such as Linux, OpenStack, networking (Cisco, Juniper, Nokia), or SDN (a plus)
Solid programming skills (e.g. Python, Unix shell) and experience with automation tooling like Ansible and Git
Familiarity with virtualized environments (OpenStack) and container platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker)
Strong analytical and communication skills, with fluency in English (and Dutch)
