Job Description
As a Project Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive project controls support to ensure successful project delivery. You will work closely with project (controls) managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain cost estimates, project schedules and risk management plans. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient execution of projects within the Infrastructure department.
- You develop a project controls mindset and career path with a focus on Risk Management first. Your responsibility is to advise on, develop and maintain project risk registers, facilitate risk management meetings and report to internal project leads and the client. You participate and support quantitative risk analysis (QRA) processes, both schedule risks & cost risks.
- Your responsibility is to ensure that all measures in your control are taken to finish the work within the given frame regarding cost and time, with special emphasis on the projects prioritized objectives. The Project Controls Engineer also supports the Project Controls Manager in all aspects to keep the project(s) under control, allowing the successful achievement of the given project goals.
- You will participate in the development and implementation of project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown structures (CBS) in concert with project manager, project controls manager, Schedule and/or Cost Lead and contractor project controls lead and in conjunction with Project Execution Plans.
- You will participate in applying first principles estimating, prepare capital cost estimates to meet industry standard estimate classification guidelines, support key tendering activities including preparation of pre-tender estimates.
- Analyse project change and the provision of feedback on areas of risk and opportunities, analyse and assess costs and estimates provided by suppliers and contractors, provide process and technical estimating support production of feasibility studies and provide estimating support to manage project budget and scope (Value Engineering)
- You will support in the implementation of Project Planning & Scheduling strategy, plans and procedures, reflecting both company and contractor roles, responsibilities and expectations.
- You will develop and maintain the overall integration schedule in concert with the project team. Prepare reports on a regular basis to pinpoint improvement areas and trends.
- Check the integrity of contractor schedules within the suite of P6 project schedules which includes reviewing schedule durations, dependencies and logic, recommending improvements where possible, reviewing cost and resource loading and validating schedule revisions.
- You will perform critical path analysis and comparisons to the baseline of the contractor provided schedules.
- You will prepare regular reports and collect data in support of company and client benchmarking and run reports that identify cost and schedule trend data. These reports will be shared with the client and then you will help guide the Contractor on how they can manage or control the trends.
- You will work close together with the project team in order to control cost and the schedule.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of planning/scheduling experience
- Strong understanding of planning/scheduling policies, methods, and procedures, including risk analysis, and risk management
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6, Powerproject, Excel, PowerPoint, with preference for Acumen Fuse/Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis, and MS Project
- Ability to create dashboards and summary reports using Power BI
- Skilled in consolidating multiple schedule inputs and performance data into a master schedule and delivering project/program status reports
- Solid knowledge of design and project management concepts, tools, and techniques
- Experience working with contractors in a project management or scheduler/planner role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong drive and tenacity
- Membership in a recognized professional body is desirable
- Strong background in the infrastructure sector
- Preference for candidates holding an EU passport
