Your position
The Scientist Quantitative Genetics is an experienced professional in the Genetics & Breeding team who will perform research activities that contribute to the advancement of commercial crop breeding of vegetable and ornamental breeding companies. A significant part of your research will be focused on development of novel tools and methods to accelerate breeding using, among others genomic prediction and other data driven breeding approaches. You will be responsible for initiating and executing innovative research projects in close collaboration with our strategic partners and clients. You are an innovator in your field and will work closely with the Team Leads, (Senior) Project Leads, fellow Scientists, the Head of Innovation & Application and other colleagues from the Genomics, Bioinformatics & Software Development teams.
Your profile
- Master’s or PhD degree in breeding and genetics, preferably plant breeding
- A creative scientist with more than five years of post M.Sc. experience including more than two years experience in working with Genomic Prediction and data driven breeding in a commercial breeding setting. Or at least two years of post-doctoral experience and several scientific publications in the field of quantitative genetics. Industry experience is beneficial
- Interested in working in a scientific contract research company
- Excellent understanding of commercial plant breeding programs and quantitative genetic analysis
- Proficient in statistical programming languages like R, to perform hands on data analyses to develop and share applicable breeding tools
- Sensitive to client’s needs and capable of translating opportunities into attractive research proposals
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English
- A highly motivated individual who seeks high quality standards in his/her professional employment and values transparency and accountability
- Strong team player, efficiently working and sharing knowledge in multidisciplinary projects
