Senior Software & Cloud Architect
Location: Maastricht Netherlands
The Software & Cloud Architect will direct the complete software lifecycle and help build future-ready solutions. You will collaborate with tech leads, architects, and developers to deliver scalable, impactful outcomes using the latest cloud and AI-driven technologies. You will play a pivotal part in bridging business needs with technical execution, inspiring teams to embrace change while upholding the highest standards of security and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Stay informed about cloud developments to help shape DSM-Firmenich’s digital future.
• Guide and oversee solution development throughout the full application lifecycle.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and experts to design advanced, efficient systems.
• Define code architecture principles for high-performing and scalable products.
• Promote and implement best practices, code quality improvement, and AI integration for code writing and testing.
• Design smart cloud solutions leveraging AI and machine learning.
• Assess technology options to ensure robust and scalable architectures.
• Develop technology roadmaps and strategies aligned with business goals.
• Ensure the technology foundation ecosystem evolves in line with organizational objectives.
You Bring:
Qualifications:
- Architecture Design: Skilled in microservices, serverless, event-driven systems, and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
- DevOps & Automation: Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and GitOps methodologies.
- Security: Knowledgeable in IAM, encryption, secure API design, and zero-trust architecture.
- Networking: Competent in VPC design, load balancing, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Data: Experienced with relational and NoSQL databases, data lakes, and distributed data systems.
- Monitoring & Observability: Familiar with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and cloud-native monitoring solutions.
- Integration & APIs: Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns and API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management).
- AI/ML & Data Engineering: Acquainted with AI/ML infrastructure, model deployment pipelines, and data engineering workflows (e.g., ETL, data lakes, streaming data).
- Frameworks & Best Practices: Expertise in applying AWS/Azure/GCP Well-Architected Frameworks and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Software Design Principles: Thorough grasp of SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI principles, separation of concerns, high cohesion and low coupling, 12-Factor App methodology, and design for failure and security by design.
- Architectural Patterns: Effective application of microservices, event-driven, serverless, layered, hexagonal architectures, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS, Saga, and Strangler Fig patterns.
- Cloud-Native Design Patterns: Proficient in auto-scaling, service discovery, circuit breaker, retry/backoff mechanisms, blue-green and canary deployments, and the application of AWS/Azure/GCP Well-Architected Frameworks combined with IaC best practices.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align architectural decisions with business goals and long-term vision.
- Communication: Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Documentation & Presentation: Ability to produce high-quality architectural diagrams, documentation, and presentations for diverse audiences.
