Student Assistant Una Europa (0.6 FTE)

At Leiden University, the Una Europa project team coordinates and supports the university’s participation in Una Europa. Our team proudly facilitates and coordinates the development of innovative educational programs, promoting international research cooperation, and fostering connections between students, staff, and academiacs across Europe. We work closely with faculties, services, and external partners to contribute to building a truly European university experience.
What will you do?
As a student assistant within the Una Europa Project Team at Strategy and Academic Affairs (SAZ), you will support various administrative and organizational activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative support to the Project Team by planning meetings, booking rooms, taking minutes, and coordinating follow-up of action points for day-to-day tasks and new initiatives;
- Collecting and consolidating information, and creating templates, agendas, annotations, and other documents for recurring meetings or as requested by the Project Lead and Programme Coordinator;
- Supporting student engagement activities by liaising with the Programme Officer and the Una Europa Student Engagement Team to implement new and recurring student activities, answer student questions and supporting participants;
- Providing logistical support for the organization of the Student Congress at Leiden University in 2026 and local Una Europa meetings;
- Taking the lead in activities related to the Local Student Task Force building, logistically supporting student-led activities.
Who are we looking for?
The Una Europa Project Team is looking for a student who is well organized, enjoys working both independently and collaboratively, and has a proactive and flexible attitude. Enrolment at Leiden University for the full duration of this role is a requirement for this position. Additionally:
- You have excellent organizational and communication skills;
- You are detail-oriented and can effectively prioritize tasks;
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken. A good command of Dutch is an advantage but you can at least read and follow texts and conversations in Dutch.
- You are proactive and creative in identifying what needs to be done and taking initiative.

This student assistant position is for 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week) with flexible working hours (both at our office in Leiden and remote) with the expectation that the student assistant will be available for our weekly team meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays in person. The appointment is temporary for 6 months and starts as soon as possible. You will receive the salary for student assistants (scale SA), depending on your year of study, ranging from € 2,925.00 to €2,981.00 gross per month based on a full-time equivalent. Where will you work?
The Una Europa Project Team sits within the Strategy and Academic Affairs (SAZ) Directorate. SAZ's 45 staff members support the Executive Board and faculties of Leiden University in the strategic development of the university in areas such as education, research, impact and valorisation, sustainability, internationalisation, grant advising, and diversity and inclusion. A team of eight International Affairs staff members is responsible for identifying national and international developments in higher education. They work on European programmes, represent the university in European networks, and contribute globally to the strategic and sustainable strengthening of international research and education.
