Superintendent M&R (Maintenance & Reliability)
Location: ADM Europoort B.V., Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Position Summary
The Superintendent M&R (Maintenance & Reliability) is responsible for leading all maintenance, reliability and asset management activities across one of ADM’s most critical industrial complexes globally. Located in Europoort Rotterdam, the site integrates soy and rapeseed crushing, refined oil production, lecithin, soy protein concentrate, and includes port operations.
This role requires a highly skilled technical leader, capable of managing complex mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and utilities systems in a 24/7 continuous processing environment. The Superintendent M&R will ensure operational reliability, minimize unplanned downtime, and embed preventive and predictive maintenance best practices aligned with ADM global standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion a strong safety culture across the maintenance organization, ensuring full compliance with ADM’s Health & Safety policies.
• Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations and drive proactive compliance across all maintenance work.
• Embed a food safety mindset in all maintenance activities, with a focus on contamination prevention and compliance with critical hygiene standards (e.g. salmonella control).
• Oversee the maintenance and reliability team across all technical disciplines (Mechanical, E&I, Utilities, Facilities, Planning, Stores).
• Ensure optimal organization structure, capability, and skills development within the team.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Own and manage annual maintenance CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
• Drive bad actor elimination and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
• Head and direct performance management through KPIs
• Optimize spare parts strategy and storeroom performance using best practices.
• Drive planning and execution of annual plant shutdowns.
• Collaborate with Engineering to integrate Design for Reliability into new projects and modifications.
• Actively partner with the Reliability Technical Center (RTC) EMEAI to ensure alignment and customization of Best Maintenance & Reliability practices.
• Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Production, SHEQ, Procurement, Engineering, and global/regional R&M networks.
• Coach, engage and retain a high-performing, safety-focused technical team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance leadership within large industrial plants with similar operations and technical systems.
• Demonstrated technical strength across mechanical and E&I domains.
• Fluent in Dutch (required) and professional proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Experience with CMMS tools (preferably IBM Maximo), KPI tracking, RCA, and reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA).
• Solid people leadership, stakeholder management and change management capabilities.
• Proactive, pragmatic, hands-on leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
