Your role
As an Accounting Officer you enjoy the accounting function in all its aspects. This role involves not only handling invoices and employee expense claims, but also accounts reconciliation and identifying possible unusual transactions from clients.
In addition to these activities, you execute other administrative tasks such as:
- The payment process and the creation of creditors and ensure this is performed accurately.
- You have a role in the month, quarter and year end closing processes and cost accrual bookings
- You have a good understanding of VAT, including the fact that different VAT-regimes apply in the countries FMO works in.
- Next to the day-to-day work, you will participate in improvement projects within the department. This might include improving work processes or providing input for system changes (from a user perspective).
- You are an energetic professional with high attention to details, organized and methodical.
- You have good communication skills and enjoy interaction with the business (both in NL and foreign countries).
- You use your knowledge, skills and behavior to put the client at the center of everything you do.
- You truly enjoy working in an international environment.

Your team
Our mission is to enable entrepreneurs to increase inclusive and sustainable prosperity. A robust Operations department is vital to support investment, treasury, procurement, and payment processes. Our globally oriented organization actively operates in developing markets, reflecting our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The Operations department consists of more than 50 dedicated colleagues from many different nationalities and backgrounds. The department includes a central Procurement function with areas like Procurement, Know Your Supplier, and managing Accounts Payable/Receivable. Also, it has sub-teams responsible for Debt, Equity, Treasury Operations, and Quality & Improvements.
You will become part of the Accounts Payable and Receivable (APR) team. This team has 5 dedicated members who together deal with both accounts payable and receivable, as well as bank reconciliations. The team processes and pays all supplier invoices and employee expenses, and APR reconciles all incoming (client) payments. Constantly raising the bar, improving efficiency, and mitigating risk is high on the agenda of APR.
Your background
- Minimum HBO diploma (Finance or Administration).
- Knowledge of accounting and procure-to-pay processes including related systems (preferably DCR (Broadridge) / CODA/ Basware).
- 5-10 years relevant work experience.
- Experience with working with (internal) auditors and improvement projects .
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working across multiple lines of business.
- Cultural awareness gained in an international environment will be an advantage.
