We have an exciting opportunity as Fermentation Technician at Danone Research in Utrecht.
As part of the R&I Advanced Technology department, our team's mission is to support, inspire and create innovative and sustainable technological solutions, unlocking the potential of strains & cultures via fermentation to feed future consumer’s and patient’s needs. More generally, the department is in charge of the development of new processes and technologies able to sustain Danone’s growth and develop a scientific approach of processes.
In your role as Fermentation Technician, your key responsibilities are:
Contribute to innovation projects focused on fermentation process design and pro-/postbiotic applications in food products
Plan, prepare, and execute lab and pilot trials under supervision of a Fermentation Technologist
Maintain accurate records of experimental data and interpret analytical results to support technologists and project goals
Assist the Bioprocessing Lab Head with maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory and pilot fermentation equipment, ensuring the proper functioning of all lab and pilot-scale fermentation systems
Participate in training sessions and help guide new users on safe and effective equipment operation
Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
Practical experience in fermentation processes, ideally in the food sector
Strong understanding of microbiological techniques and operating fermentation related equipment on lab and pilot scale
Experience with probiotics, postbiotics or anaerobic processes is a plus
Proactive, hands-on, result driven attitude
Comfortable working in a dynamic organisation, with different functional disciplines and nationalities
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
