About the Legal Counsel job at GenScript Europe:
GenScript Europe division, headquartered in Rijswijk, Netherlands, with a branch office in Oxford, UK, was established in 2019 to serve as a hub for commercial, technical support and logistic in the European and UK region. In our ongoing commitment to enhancing service for our clients in Europe, we have recently established our laboratory facility in Delft, Netherlands. This new facility is dedicated to enhancing production capacity and ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality products tailored to meet the specific needs of our European clients.
GenScript legal department has a mid-sized in-house legal team, responsible for legal and compliance issues globally. In this role, you will take charge of overseeing all legal and compliance operations within Europe. The legal department offers great opportunities for growth for its lawyers and supporting members who are committed to growing with the company.
Job Title: Legal Counsel
Working Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week
Working Location: Rijswijk, South Holland, Netherlands
Key Responsibilities:
General Corporate:
- Review contracts and provide legal support to businesses in EU markets
- Conduct legal research on legal issues assigned by the supervising attorney
- Coordinating with the headquarters Secretary's Office to support corporate organizational works for EU legal entities, verification, clarification, and documenting organizational structures
- Collect, organize, and update new developments on laws, regulations, and relevant cases related to the technology industry, employment/HR, public tender, EHS, GDPR, etc., for compliance purposes in EU markets.
Litigation Management:
- Manage litigation cases and conduct legal research on key legal issues
- Collect information, internal investigation, manage outside counsel
Immigration/work permit-related tasks:
- Coordinate with HR and outside law firms on employment-related immigration or visa matters
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervising attorney.
Main Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyers licensed in one of the following EU countries: Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, or Spain with two years above legal experience in a law firm or an in-house legal team.
- Highly motivated and driven to perform solid groundwork and find opportunities to grow in the legal field.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Multi-lingual with EU countries’ languages such as Dutch, Spanish, French, and Chinese Mandarin language is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and create solutions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
