Objective:
The Marketing Specialist will support the BYD Europe Forklift Division by managing and executing marketing activities across Europe. This includes creating and maintaining promotional materials (leaflets, brochures), updating the website, coordinating events (local and global), supporting dealer marketing efforts with branded materials and giveaways, preparing engaging communications for the dealer network, and acting as a PR contact. The role also involves coordination with BYD headquarters in China, requiring cultural adaptability and strong communication skills. A dynamic, youthful mindset and willingness to travel across Europe for events is essential. Mandarin is a plus.
Location and Work Setup:
The position is based in Schiedam, the Netherlands, and requires the candidate to work on-site at the BYD Europe office. This is a full-time, in-office role with no remote or hybrid work options.
Reporting Line:
The Marketing Specialist will report directly to the Manager of the Sales Administration Department for the Forklift Division at BYD Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and manage marketing materials such as leaflets, brochures, and branded content.
- Maintain and improve the BYD Forklift Division Europe website, ensuring content is current and aligned with brand guidelines.
- Plan and execute events across Europe, including:
- Liaising with vendors, suppliers, and venues
- Booking hotels, cars, and logistics
- Ensuring alignment with BYD HQ branding guidelines
- Defining and fulfilling the strategic purpose of each event
- Act as a central point of contact for local event suppliers and venues.
- Draft and deliver internal communications and network messages to the European dealer network.
- Serve as a PR contact, ensuring brand visibility and alignment.
- Coordinate with HQ in China, ensuring all messaging is localized and relevant to the European market.
- Process internal and external purchase orders (POs) and ensure timely coordination with the Finance Department for supplier payments.
- Travel across Europe to attend and support events as needed.
- Provide general marketing and administrative support across the team, including taking on varied tasks as assigned to ensure smooth operations within a small, flexible team environment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in marketing, event coordination, or communications (internship experience can be considered for strong candidates).
- Energetic, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset — someone who takes initiative and does not require micromanagement.
- Adaptable to evolving processes and priorities.
- Able to remain calm under pressure, especially during busy event periods with tight deadlines and frequent last-minute changes.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Positive, can-do attitude with a customer-centric and team-player approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Willing and able to travel for events across Europe.
- Experience in coordinating with external vendors, venues, and suppliers.
- Understanding of the European business environment and sensitivity to cultural nuances.
- Mandarin Chinese or other languages are a plus, but not mandatory.
