Are you a dedicated researcher with expertise in environmental health? Join the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) as a postdoc to lead research in assessing human exposure to environmental agents. You will be part of the international research project ETAIN. This project builds upon our previous research on the health effects of non-ionising radiation, and will focus on novel telecommunication technology: 5G.
Your job
Your research will focus on assessing exposure of humans from radiofrequency electromagnetic fields. We have developed an exposure app applying a citizen science approach. App data are noisy and to make them informative, you will work on calibrations, develop approaches to estimate population exposures levels and advanced dose estimations, and do mapping on a European scale.
Collaborate on impactful projects, exploring a range of different environmental exposures, including electromagnetic fields from 5G technology. You will work within the dynamic One Health Chemical (OHC) of the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, engaging in interdisciplinary research to uncover environmental health determinants. We believe in team science and are thus looking for a teamplayer.
Your qualities
You bring the following qualifications:
- a PhD in environmental or life sciences, epidemiology, health statistics, or a related field;
- proficiency in data analysis using R;
- experience with spatial data;
- excellent communication and teamwork skills;
- strong organisational and time management abilities;
- willingness to support the field team when necessary;
- Dutch language skills are an advantage.
Our offer
- A position for one year, with the possibility of extension with another year;
- a working week of 24 to 38 hours and a gross monthly salary between €3,378 and €5,331 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 10 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU));
- 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
- a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
