As a Product Safety & Compliance Professional, your main goal is to help ensure our products meet international product safety regulations, particularly in the area of machinery safety. You will act as an expert advisor to various internal stakeholders and guide them in developing safe and compliant products. You know how to strike the right balance between technical feasibility and regulatory safety measures. Together with your colleagues within the Product Safety & Compliance team — each with their own area of expertise (e.g. occupational, chemical or electrical safety) — you will work on product development projects and market entries around the globe.
You will conduct research, define legal frameworks, and advise stakeholders on applicable requirements. You will also assess whether products or solutions comply with relevant regulations. In this position, you report to the Manager Product Safety & Compliance.
Main responsibilities:
- Research and interpret product legislation and standards for new developments and international markets (e.g. China).
- Translate legal requirements into practical guidance for internal stakeholders across departments such as R&D, Sales, Production and Technical Support.
- Evaluate new or revised product standards and ensure necessary changes are implemented.
- Assess third-party suppliers on their ability to comply with product safety legislation.
- Review technical documentation such as nameplates, test reports, and manuals.
- Prepare product files for internal or external certification approval.
- Support market-related questions on product safety and contribute to the development of international standards.
- Develop and deliver training on product legislation and safety compliance.
- Maintain a network of internal and external contacts to align on international legislation and regulations.

As a Product Safety & Compliance Professional, your mission is to help guarantee safe products in the market. You act as an expert in product legislation — primarily machine safety — supporting stakeholders to ensure Lely products comply with relevant international regulations.
You create a balance between safety measures and practical usability. You build strong relationships with internal teams and foster ownership for Safety & Compliance. You work closely with fellow experts in fields such as occupational safety, chemical safety, and electrical safety. You may be involved in new product development or supporting product launches in new countries. You dive into research, define legal boundaries, and advise stakeholders with confidence. In this role, you also assess whether products or solutions comply with applicable product safety legislation. You report to the Manager Product Safety & Compliance.
Main responsibilities:
- Research and interpret product legislation and standards, including those in emerging markets (e.g. China).
- Translate product legislation into practical advice for internal stakeholders.
- Support stakeholders (including R&D, Sales, Production and Technical Support) with product safety throughout the development lifecycle.
- Evaluate new or revised product standards and coordinate necessary adaptations.
- Assess third-party suppliers on their ability to comply with regulations.
- Review technical documentation such as labels, test reports, and manuals.
- Compile technical files for approval by the Manager Product Safety & Compliance or for external certification.
- Respond to safety questions from the market and help shape international product standards.
- Develop and deliver internal training on product legislation.
- Maintain a network of internal and external contacts for alignment on legal requirements.
What is your experience?
You are structured, self-starting and proactive, with a talent for understanding complex topics quickly. You are precise, persuasive and know how to tailor your communication to different audiences.
You also bring:
- A bachelor's degree (HBO) in a technical field such as mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
- Demonstrable experience in machine safety; certifications such as CMSE, CECE or CEFS are a plus.
- Experience working in project-based environments and independently handling tasks.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- A critical mindset with the ability to convince and drive compliance at all levels of the organisation.
