R&D Lab Technician
Teijin Holdings Europe is currently seeking a motivated, and result-oriented , who wants to contribute to a more sustainable society. The position will be based at Teijin’s Brightlands Innovation Center (TBIC) located in Geleen, The Netherlands, which directly reports to the Environmental Solution Division of Teijin Limited in Tokyo (Japan). This role gives an opportunity to play a key role in the development of new materials enabling the energy transition with a focus on electrochemical applications, CO2 capture and conversion, and water treatment.
Position, Scope, Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Position:
R&D Lab Technician at the Brightlands Innovation Center (TBIC), part of the Environmental Solution Division (ESD) of Teijin Limited. Reporting to the General Manager of Teijin Brightlands Innovation Center (TBIC), based in Geleen, The Netherlands.
Scope:
We are looking for a practical and detail-oriented Lab Technician with a strong interest in experimental work, synthesis, and materials testing. In this role, you will support our research team by preparing samples, running tests, and operating lab equipment. You’ll be actively involved in carrying out experiments, collecting data, and helping to maintain and improve our laboratory setups. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, following procedures, and contributing to innovative research in materials and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Execute laboratory experiments under the guidance of R&D scientists.
- Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, samples and lab equipment for testing
- Report data and compile information into graphs and documents
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Monitor ongoing tests and experiments, noting any differences
- Manage inventory of lab supplies
- Assist in the development and optimization of experimental procedures.
- Handle, ship and store chemicals in accordance with regulations
Job requirements / Qualifications:
- MBO/HBO degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
- Verbal and written communication skills
- 1–3 years of hands-on laboratory experience (internships included).
- Proactive, organized, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with polymer or chemical synthesis techniques is a plus
Required Competencies:
Entrepreneurial spirit, result oriented, self-motivated. Good analytical and data analysis skills. Fluent in English. Open to work in a multicultural and international team. Sense of humor.
