Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction primarily software-defined and work towards a future where beautiful, bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labour.
We’re a growing team (about 60 team members) of mostly engineers and technicians, coming from companies like Palantir, Qualcomm, Dyson, Shopify, Tesla, 1X and Meta. It’s still the early days of building the company, and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth, high-ambition startup environment. From Day 1, you’ll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

About you and this role
We’re looking for a Senior Buyer who is analytical, systems-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, R&D-heavy hardware environment. You’ll be central to keeping our production and deployment operations running smoothly—owning supplier relationships, managing component lead times, optimising stock levels, and ensuring that critical parts arrive on time, on cost, on quality, every time.
Monumental is a unique company in that we’re solving the problem of on-site construction with a vertically integrated offering. We’re a hard tech company doing real R&D, financed through venture funding. We manufacture our hardware in-house, manage a complex supply chain, and deploy masonry robots to construction sites across the Netherlands.
Our physical workspace reflects the complexity of what we do. We have a 3D printing farm, a fully equipped workshop, and indoor + outdoor testing spaces for robotic bricklaying. We’ve lost count of how many deliveries we get in a day, and manage several subleased villas within our facility to other startups.
You’ll be part of a small and growing operations team, working on real-world logistics and problem-solving every day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the mix of structured systems thinking and the unpredictability of a fast-moving physical product.
We are unable to support relocation for this role. Applicants must be based in the Netherlands and able to commute onsite to Amsterdam to be considered. Visa sponsorship may be available for local candidates on a case-by-case basis, depending on individual circumstances.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to forecast demand accurately across the various commodities that constitute our robots, aligning our supply chain with volume requirements for upcoming production plans.
Co-developing KPIs and frequently reporting out on them with regard to the state of the BoM cos
Constantly evaluate the supply base and introduce, develop, and integrate new suppliers, while also phasing out the non-performing ones
Setting delivery targets alongside fellow Buyers, monitoring supplier performance and addressing delays, quality and inventory issues (add quality)
Managing the sourcing of specific consumables and equipment essential for production
Developing and implementing processes (e.g. ordering processes) to optimise stock levels, minimise carrying costs, and ensure sufficient supply for production schedules
Effectively utilise the company's ERP system to manage the procurement workflow, inventory, and other supply chain processes (e.g. logistics, non-conformance issues…)
Implement and document processes to bridge any gaps between the supply chain, warehouse, and manufacturing functions.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field. Masters degree would be a bonus.
Proven experience in direct and / or indirect procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or technology-driven environment
Experienced in sourcing CNC-milled, turned, laser-cut, folded metal parts, OTS electronics, consumables, and bespoke electronics.
Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in similar roles / similar environment
Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Nice-To-Haves
Strong knowledge and good working level experience of the Odoo ERP system (v16 or v17)
Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing advantageous supplier contracts with suppliers from around the world
Experience in working with complex electro-mechanical HW products (ideally components used in robotic systems)
