Contract duration: 5 months with a possible extension

Introduction to the position
We are looking for 2 enthusiastic student assistants to support Dr. Stephanie Bijlmakers with research focused on the responsible sourcing of critical raw materials (CRM) for semiconductor production, within the broader context of a just energy transition. The research areas are corporate sustainability, business and human rights, European and international law, CRM, semi-conductor industry.

Your position
The positions involve assisting with research on the regulation and governance of the semi-conductor supply chain, CRM sourcing, and the preparation and execution of empirical field research in Brazil, Norway, and/or China. Tasks include preparing for and conducting interviews, translation and transcription, data analysis, literature review, and contributing to the organization of an international workshop. You will also help develop a project website and social media presence.

Your profile
  • You are enrolled as a student at Tilburg University and have obtained at least 60 ECTS in a university bachelor's program or are following a master's program.
  • Minimum CEFR level C2 English and A2 Dutch. Proficiency in (Brazilian) Portuguese or Mandarin Chinese is a strong asset.
  • You are interested in academic research in the research domains indicated. Previous experience in conducting qualitative emphirical research / semi-structured interviews is a plus.
  • You can work flexibly on average 8 hours a week. You are willing and able to join on 1 or 2 international field visits.
  • You are analytical, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently. Experience in website design and social media presence is an asset.

  • Employment of 0.2 fte (8 hours per week).
  • Salary between €2925,- and €2981,- gross per month for full-time employment (UFO profile Student Assistant, salary scale SA). Salary depending on the course year you are in.
  • This is a vacancy for a Student Assistant who contributes to scientific education or research in accordance with Article 10.1 paragraph 2 CLA Dutch Universities. You will receive a temporary contract for the duration of 4 months.
  • Vacation pay of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
  • More than 8 weeks of vacation leave.
