Job Description
Your Role
Are you an experienced System Engineer with a passion for industrial automation and control in mechatronic systems for offshore applications? Do you have strong affinity with variable frequency-driven systems, advanced lifting technologies, and AC/DC power management? Are you ready to help shape the future of automation and control for mobile offshore units. Do you exemplify comprehensive, high-quality engineering and serve as a technical reference point within the Automation & Control group.
At KenzFigee, we offer a unique opportunity to take the lead in developing cutting-edge automation solutions for high-impact, mission-critical projects in the offshore industry.
What are you going to do
You will be part of the Engineering department, which consists of approximately 30 engineers. Within the Automation & Control discipline, you’ll work closely with five colleagues — a mix of system engineers and programmers — who are also actively involved in functional testing during commissioning.
In projects, you will report functionally to the Technical Lead (technical project manager) and hierarchically to the Discipline Team Captain or Manager Engineering.
As a Senior System Engineer A&C, you are responsible for the automation scope within multidisciplinary projects. You translate client and system requirements into a robust automation architecture and ensure effective coordination and integration of PLC systems, HMI interfaces, and power management solutions. You are the expert who bridges the gap between concept and realisation.
Your key responsibilities
- Translate system and client requirements into functional specifications and control system designs.
- Develop control descriptions and lead the design and integration of automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
- Supervise and guide internal and external detail engineers, ensuring compliance with baseline designs.
- Oversee system integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Lead validation and performance testing under real operating conditions.
- Standardize engineering methods, tools, and component selection.
- Mentor and technically coach junior engineers.
- Report functionally to the Technical Lead and hierarchically to the Manager Engineering.
Qualifications
What do you bring?
- 10+ years of experience as a System Engineer A&C, ideally in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Power Engineering.
- Proven experience with systems engineering (e.g., ISO15288), functional design documents, and control narratives.
- Strong technical knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC power distribution, frequency converters, grid conversion systems, and industrial communication networks.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity guidelines and integration of secure systems.
- Experience outsourcing work and managing suppliers to ensure on-time, high-quality deliveries.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Precise, responsible, and quality-driven mindset
