Systems Engineer
What do we ask from you?
Being a member of an experienced team, the Systems Engineer develops hydraulic and/or mechatronic systems that comply with customer/market requirements. The Systems Engineering team is part of a larger engineering group with different engineering disciplines making it possible to develop together challenging and exciting systems.
The Systems Engineer will start being involved during the sales phase of potential projects and recommends customers on the best solution directions for their needs. These recommendations are based on experience, modeling theories and are presented to the customer using concept reviews.
Besides customer specific development projects, the Systems Engineer will work on projects to develop new hydraulic or mechatronic products for market portfolio needs.
During such projects, the Systems Engineer will design the concept of a working hydraulic or mechatronic system. He / She will make sure the system complies with (CE) directives, industry standards and customer requirements. The Systems Engineer uses and improves engineering models to select the right components and uses other methods like Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to support the design of the system. Requirements Management is applied to trace customer needs using available tooling.
When the product development is completed (including necessary documentation) it will be handed over to product engineering.
Besides a technical role, the Systems Engineer brings together other disciplines (mechanical engineering, software engineering, electronics engineering) to ensure work of these disciplines is aligned and will result in an optimal working solution for the customer or the market. The Systems Engineer can use the worldwide network from Moog to exchange technical knowledge and experiences.
The system is typically assembled and commissioned first at the Moog factory such that the customer can witness performance during Factory Acceptance Tests. The system will then be transported to the customer’s site after which the system is recommissioned, followed by Site Acceptance Tests to prove proper functioning. Comprehensive system documentation is typically part of the scope of deliverables.
The candidate is expected to proactively search for new technologies and innovative solutions. The job requires creativity and inventiveness. Knowledge in the field of Systems Engineering is needed to fulfill this role.
The systems are installed all over the world at various customer sites and Moog facilities, so travelling up to 20% of total working time is possible.
