The primary objective of this role is to guarantee DAF’s compliance with customs regulations. In addition, the Customs Manager will be responsible for optimizing DAF's customs position.
Result areas:
- Provide expert advice and respond to inquiries from internal departments, such as the logistics departments, regarding customs-related issues;
- Participate in project teams requiring customs expertise;
- Develop, implement, and refine customs procedures and guidelines;
- Serve as the primary contact for both local and foreign customs authorities;
- Involvement in various customs compliance activities, including classification, customs valuation, and determination of goods’ origin;
- Keep the organization informed about changes in customs legislation and trade agreements and advise on their implications;
- Oversee and improve import and export processes from a customs compliance perspective;
- Build and maintain relationships with external advisors;
- Manage applications for customs authorizations, permits, and maintain existing approvals;
- Performing internal controls to ensure customs compliance requirements are met;
- You report to the Indirect Tax Manager Europe.

- Proven experience in customs matters in the industry (minimum 2-5 years);
- Knowledge of customs laws and regulations as well as international customs legislation (WCO & WTO)
- Completed MCTA training or similar;
- Experience in cross functional collaboration - Interaction between Customs, regulatory, VAT, export controls etc..
- Fluent in English and Dutch language - written and spoken - is essential;
- Hands on mentality, independent and affinity with IT (e.g. Excel).
