Are you a solutions-driven IT professional who’s passionate about using technology to make a real impact? The Global IT Functional Application Management team at Greenpeace International (GPI) is looking for a Functional Applications Manager to help us manage secure, efficient, and collaborative digital environments across our global network.
In this role, you’ll manage and improve the performance of our core applications stack—keeping systems aligned with strategic goals, compliant with data standards, and responsive to the needs of staff and partners around the world. You'll be shaping and guarding the digital backbone of a global environmental movement.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical expertise with user empathy—someone who loves solving complex problems, navigating cross-functional systems, and helping people work smarter. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
In this role you will:
Provide 2nd/3rd line support for assigned global SaaS applications and systems.
Investigate and resolve complex issues, manage escalations to vendors, and maintain clear support documentation.
Own relationships with key software vendors, monitor roadmaps, and oversee service level delivery.
Configure and maintain application settings, integrations, and identity/access management tools in line with organizational needs.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR) and internal information security policies.
Track system performance and cost-efficiency; identify opportunities for optimization and innovation.
Manage product lifecycle for new features and tools from prioritization through to implementation.
Proactively communicate application changes and develop training materials to support adoption.
Facilitate a community of practice with global/local administrators and key stakeholders.
Monitor application usage, license allocation, and renewals to maximize return on investment.
Identify and evaluate new tools that align with business needs and strategic objectives.
Contribute to business continuity by ensuring backup solutions, exit strategies, and failover processes are documented and in place.
What we’re looking for:
We don’t expect every candidate to meet every requirement, but we believe that candidates with a strong mix of the following skills and experience will thrive in this role:
A Bachelor’s degree, or/and MSc, college diploma or equivalent work experience in IT, Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field in an international setting.
Preferably, minimum 5 years’ experience in a Functional Applications Manager or similar role focused on SaaS ecosystems.
Proficiency in application lifecycle management, configuration, deployment, and optimization.
Strong grasp of business processes across HR, finance, procurement, and operations.
Experience in application support and issue resolution, including troubleshooting technical issues and diagnosing root causes.
Ability to manage and communicate with vendors, track roadmaps, and deliver feature updates smoothly.
Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g. ITIL, Agile) and compliance standards (e.g. GDPR).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
Understanding of access management principles, security best practices, and incident response.
Hands-on experience with APIs and Python is an advantage.
Strong documentation, reporting, and training skills.
Fluent in English (verbal and written), with an additional language as a bonus.
Able to remain responsive and adaptable, balancing ongoing project work with urgent support needs.
Demonstrable support for and belief in the Greenpeace network core aims and values.
Digital literacy skills – the ability to learn and utilise our digital platforms to successfully perform the role function (familiarity with G-Suite, Slack and Zoom is an advantage).
