About the project
You will be involved in the development of gene therapy for the rare genetic bone fragility disorder Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), mainly caused by defects in collagen type I (10.1007/s00439-021-02302-2). The project will focus on the advancement of therapeutic approaches through their study in both in vitro and in vivo models of OI.
About the role
You will work on a unique project which aims at the development of a stem cell type in which genetic modifications can be applied to promote bone tissue regeneration. You will specifically use CRISPR technology in combination with numerous methods with which generation and validation of osteogenic cell types can be investigated.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you are committed to conducting independent and original scientific research, to report on this research in international publications and presentations, to be completed within 21 months (project end date: June 30th, 2027). You will take initiatives with grant applications to secure additional funds.
Profile
We are looking for a highly ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in molecular & cell biology, genetics or biotechnology. You have a creative, open and resilient mind, excellent interpersonal skills combined with an ability to work efficiently both independently and in a team. Moreover, you have:
- a PhD in biomedical sciences;
- research experience in molecular/cell biology (or closely related fields);
- extensive experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques (handling of iPSCs and CRISPR are regarded as strong points);
- experience with translational research working with in vivo models (article 9) will be considered advantageous;
- excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

- Salary scale 10: € 3.598 to € 5.669 gross based on full-time employment (depending on education and experience) and a year-end bonus of 8.3%. Calculate your net salary here.

- For >7 km each way, 100% reimbursement for public transport travel costs and, for private transport, €0.18 per km up to a maximum of 40 km each way.
