Join us as a Relationship Director, in the International Corporate Banking Coverage team, where you will be developing the client portfolio through analysing business trends. You will be supporting the European business plan in the Netherlands for new and existing clients, identifying new corridor revenue opportunities, and building a book of clients on a highly selective basis and working closely with the Investment Banking teams to ensure it is leveraging the breadth of the Product set and delivering the entire Barclays platform to its clients.

The ICB Netherlands team is responsible for the relationship management of its large multinational clients globally and the origination of all Corporate Banking Products. The team works closely with the Investment Banking teams to ensure it is leveraging the breadth of the CIB Product set and delivering the entire Barclays platform to its clients.

As a Relationship Director in the ICB Coverage team responsible for multinationals corporations based in Amsterdam, your role will include:

Carrying out Global Relationship Director responsibilities for multinational corporations based in The Netherlands
Working closely with Product partners (Lending, Trade & Working Capital, Payments & Liquidity, Risk Management (FX and Rates)) and other businesses (Investment Bank, Barclaycard and Private Bank) to ensure the client strategy is defined and executed in a way which delivers maximum value for its clients
Managing existing clients to provide excellent service and be recognised as a trusted advisor
Working with Product Partners and the wider Barclays Group to increase wallet share of existing clients

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
Experience in the banking/financial services sector on an international scale , solid business development skills across European corporate and financial markets
Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Dutch
Experience in Corporate Banking product suite including Debt, Trade & Working Capital, Cash and FX
Knowledge of Investment Banking product suite in order to foster seamless coordination within the CIB
Comprehensive knowledge of credit risk, legal and operational risk management

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within a global corporate banking organisation or financial institutions with the ability of ensuring effective credit, market and liquidity risk management of portfolio
Ability to work collaboratively within a small, but ambitious local team where flexibility and adaptability are key qualities
Significant experience at senior management level in financial services organisation or equivalent with experience on an international scale and established leadership credentials, leading through change
Experience delivering continuous improvements to BAU high risk governance process and procedures and documentation

This role is based in Amsterdam

This role is deemed as a Controlled Function role under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.

Purpose of the role

To establish and nurture profitable partnerships with both corporate and individual clients. It's the bridge between the bank's offerings and clients' needs, ensuring mutual benefit and long-term success.

Accountabilities

Management of client relationships to identify the clients financial goals, challenges, and risk tolerance to support the analysis of data obtained from various sources, including the investment portfolio and cash flow, to identify trends, insights, areas for improvement and additional services to support client needs.
Research and understanding of the client's industry trends, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment to inform strategic recommendations.
Design of customised solutions that address the client's specific needs and objectives, incorporating a range of products and services from the bank's portfolio.
Communication of the value proposition of proposed solutions, justification of recommendations, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
Provision of guidance to clients to support their financial decisions, offering expert investment advice, risk management and wealth management strategies support, and updates on market trends to ensure a positive and continuous relationship.
Assessment of financial, legal, and operational risks associated with client relationships, and implementation of measures to minimise potential losses.
Documentation of all client interactions, transactions, and agreements to ensure transparency and auditability, and communicate findings effectively to support product development, service offerings, and the overall bank strategy.
Monitoring of client satisfaction, revenue generated, and other relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of relationship management efforts.
