About the Internship Opportunity
As part of its current Sustainability Strategy, SkyTeam is developing and delivering a number of high priority sustainability initiatives, together with its member airlines. This includes the launch of our Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Hub in 2024. The SAF Hub is a virtual platform aimed at accelerating the adoption of SAF across the alliance, through knowledge sharing, best practices and collaboration. This is directly linked to SkyTeam’s Sustainability Standards, which include a target of 5% SAF adoption by individual SkyTeam members by 2030.
Given the collaborative nature of the SkyTeam alliance and the different circumstances of SAF adoption among member airlines, the SAF Hub will play a key role in advancing the following topics:

Given the collaborative nature of the SkyTeam alliance and the different circumstances of SAF adoption among member airlines, the SAF Hub will play a key role in advancing the following topics:
- Developing and implementing a long term SkyTeam SAF Vision and Action Plan
- Regulatory awareness and updates
- Key market players and suppliers – global supply and availability
- Technology, certification and feedstock updates
- Procurement and logistics
- Potential joint procurement opportunities
- Use of SAF ‘book and claim’ systems (as used in the renewable energy sector)
- SAF emissions accounting (best practices)
- Sale of SAF emissions reductions certificates to customers
- Advocacy
Your Work Activities
- Coordination: Assist the Sustainability Director and Sustainability Coordinator in arranging meetings, events, site visits and information sharing sessions related to the SAF Hub, including with airlines, technology providers, fuel companies, events organizers and industry groups.
- Communications: Working together with the Sustainability and Communications Teams, prepare a range of communications materials related to the SAF Hub, including an e-newsletter, correspondence, website content,
- conference talking points and other material as required.
- Analysis and reporting: Working together with the Sustainability Team and SAF Hub member airlines, prepare and disseminate a monthly SkyTeam SAF Pulse e-newsletter, using information from a variety of sources, such as market intelligence reporting services (e.g.. Quantum Biofuels Daily), and focusing on member’s hubs and key markets.
- Information Management: Assist in organizing and maintaining all materials related to the SAF Hub to ensure it is easily accessible and user-friendly for all stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Assist the Sustainability Team in refining and disseminating knowledge prepared for the SAF Hub by transforming complex information into clear, understandable, and inspiring content that others can learn from. This effort aims to foster cross-airline collaboration and increase the overall engagement with our platform.
Your profile
Your required Skills, Knowledge and Experience
**This internship duration is for a period of 6 months with a preferred start date in September/October 2025
- Actively enrolled in a university program in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with an eye for detail.
- Ability to write about complex concepts in clear language.
- Passionate about sustainability and environmental issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity for geographical contexts.
- Fluent English language skills (verbal and written), ensuring clarity and effectiveness in all forms of communication.
- Basic knowledge of the aviation industry is a plus
- You must maintain active enrolment in a university program throughout the duration of your internship.
- Currently residing in the Netherlands for the duration of your internship.
