Lightspeed Services organization is building out a common set of services that span multiple products. This includes Financial Services (Payments and Capital) - the Fintech backbone of Lightspeed, Accounts Services, and Golf product.
Our SRE team is responsible for the design, build and operation of Lightspeed’s infrastructure backing critical Lightspeed services. The platform covers the full cycle of software delivery, from CI/CD pipelines to high availability scalable production environments.
What you’ll be responsible for
As a member of the Site Reliability Engineering team you will:
- Initiate and lead efforts to continuously improve our software delivery processes and practices, empowering and accelerating product development across multi-location, multidisciplinary teams.
- Design and architect complex, highly reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient operational solutions, extensively using automation in configuring, managing, and monitoring systems.
- Engage with and mentor team members, actively contributing to their growth and the scaling of the team, and leverage engineering expertise to influence strategic decisions.
- Proactively advocate for best practices across your business unit, covering Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, high availability, disaster recovery, and security, and own the preparation and maintenance of team technical documentation.
- Plan and test comprehensive disaster recovery scenarios and lead incident response, diagnosis, and resolution for critical production issues, driving blameless post-mortems.
- Proactively monitor system performance and capacity, define and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and identify and eliminate toil through robust AI, automation and tooling.
What you’ll be bringing to the team
- You have proven yourself as a technical leader with a track record of successfully solving complex problems and leading initiatives to completion.
- You possess deep knowledge and practical skills within your domain, enabling you to apply them effectively to any challenge and clearly communicate these concepts to others.
- You have expert knowledge of major cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and extensive experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and Linux Systems.
- Your background includes strong proficiency with deployment and build tools (e.g., CircleCI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code practices (e.g., Terraform), as well as significant experience with various datastores (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Redis, DynamoDB).
- You are skilled in shell scripting and can read and write code in at least one programming language (Python, Ruby, or Go).
- You demonstrate strong leadership, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills, consistently applying them to solve complex problems and effectively partner with other teams.
- You are passionate about continuous learning and growth, and adept at mentoring team members to foster their development and enhance overall team capabilities.
