As a Business Risk Manager at ASN Bank in Utrecht, you are responsible for supporting the management of the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) division to control operational and compliance risk from a 1st line perspective.
What will you do?
As a Medior Business Risk Manager, you will play a crucial role in enabling control over the processes of QRM. This includes facilitating teams to analyze and describe their processes, supporting risk assessments, investigating relevant risks and compliance issues, overseeing control testing, monitoring progress on issues, and creating business risk reports based on KPIs. You will work closely with the QRM management team and other stakeholders to ensure the division is able to deliver high-quality results.
Your responsibilities:
- Facilitate teams to analyze and describe their processes, support risk assessments, and produce reports;
- Analyze and investigate relevant risks and compliance issues, and report them to the QRM management team;
- Oversee control testing, monitor progress on issues, and present reports to the QRM management team;
- Create monthly business risk reports based on defined KPI's and prepare management responses;
- Cooperate with QRM management assistants and participate as a member of the Extended Leadership team.
This is where you'll work
QRM is one of the divisions within the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) domain. This division is responsible for the quantitative approaches (such as IRB models, IFRS models, stress test models, EC models, ICAAP and recovery planning) used across the bank. Each of the six departments within QRM is led by a manager and within each department leading seniors are organizing teams on a daily basis. All teams in the division have their own roles and responsibilities, while they share joined responsibility for a number of integrated processes.
The BRM colleague facilitates the processes and business risk management for the entire division. You work with the director of QRM and the managers of the departments to ensure that they are able to deliver quality. While you work closely with a number of colleagues within the division, you are also a pivot point for interactions with other parties that QRM provides information to. You report to the director QRM.
Your qualities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to break down complex issues and identify practical solutions.
- Experience in a similar Business Risk Manager role, ideally within a financial services or risk management context.
- Experience with relevant tools and techniques to oversee issue management, facilitate risk self-assessment and performance a range of compliance self-assessment.
- Proven track record in business risk management and business (risk) control.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and build productive relationships.
- Adaptability and a willingness to continuously learn.

Depending on the knowledge and experience you bring, this position falls within salary scale 10 or 11 with a salary range between €69,000 and €106,642 gross annual fixed income (13th month and 8% holiday allowance included) and based on a 36-hour workweek. In addition, you can count on:
