Hi! I'm George, Sr. Director of Engineering at WeTravel.
As a lifelong traveler, I believe travel is a force for good and mutual understanding. I joined WeTravel to empower the people who make it happen. My team builds the foundational technology that allows organizers to turn their vision into a magical reality for their clients.
About WeTravel
Think of the most incredible adventures imaginable: trekking to Machu Picchu, cycling through Tuscany, or going on a safari in Kenya. For years, the small businesses and local experts who run these trips have been stuck using messy spreadsheets, countless emails, and complicated payment methods.
WeTravel is changing that. We build the tools that empower any entrepreneur to launch and grow their own travel business. Our platform makes it simple for organizers to create beautiful trip proposals, securely process payments, and manage their customers, so they can focus on what they do best: creating amazing experiences.
This is one of the last great frontiers of travel to come online, and as the category leader, we are at the forefront of this change. Last year alone, our platform was trusted by 8,000 organizers to lead over a million travelers on adventures in 150+ countries. Now, we’re on an exciting journey to grow from powering $1B to $10B in travel experiences per year.
We believe that every trip, when done right, can be a force for good - and we’re building the engine to make more of that possible.
What’s the role
Every great adventure has a moment of truth: the decision to click "book." Our team owns this moment. We build the core transaction engine that turns a traveler's dream into a reality.
We create a frictionless and trustworthy experience for what is often a life-changing purchase. Our work covers the entire booking lifecycle, from a seamless checkout with custom packages and insurance, to managing all the details that follow. We are also the safety net, building the logic that handles unexpected changes, cancellations, and complex payments with clarity and grace.
Our order management system is the financial backbone of our marketplace—the system of record for every booking on the platform.
Essentially, we build the platform's foundation of trust.
You'll join us to evolve this foundation to the next level, leading the team as we systems that will support a ten-fold increase in global travel experiences and directly shaping the customer experience for millions of users.
To do this we’ll need to:
Evolve our core order system to seamlessly handle new and diverse product lines. The goal is to create a flexible foundation that empowers our product teams to build, test, and launch new services in parallel.
Globalize our business order models to support any accounting standard in the world. The challenge is to make it effortless for our organizers—from a tour guide in Japan to a retreat leader in California—to manage their books and run their business compliantly.
Automate and simplify complex booking workflows. We need to give our organizers more powerful tools and flexibility to manage group changes, and handle real-world events with speed and ease.
What you’ll do day-to-day
Lead a team between 6 and 10 engineers.
Refine our booking management lifecycle as we expand our product portfolio - removing the friction and effort required to book, manage or otherwise adjust the bookings on our platform as it grows.
Drive the evolution of our order management system and the engine that powers our expansion in new lines of travel products and businesses.
Partner with our Product, Business and Finance teams to define the strategy and execution plan for our Booking and Order management platform.
Lead the long-term technical strategy for the domain.
Lead and grow a high-performing team of engineers
Foster a culture of ownership, excellence and collaboration.
