About the role
DroneShield is expanding in response to increased customer traction around the globe. As part of this growth, we are seeking a Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join the European Operations Team.
The position will report primarily to the EU Operations Manager and will work closely with the EU Sales Team, Operations Team and Engineering Teams. This role will suit someone with excellent attention to detail and a passion for technology who wants to develop their career in a fast-moving ASX listed defence technology company.
This role will focus exclusively on customer-facing field engineering support, ensuring successful deployment, integration, and sustainment of DroneShield’s systems across Europe.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
- Collaborate with the EU Sales and Australian Delivery teams to provide technical support during customer engagements, system architecture reviews, and solution scoping.
- Plan, manage, and execute the installation and integration of multi-product C-UAS systems in the field.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, handling system diagnostics, troubleshooting, software upgrades, and maintenance.
- Perform validation testing of new hardware and software releases, reporting feedback to Engineering.
- Deliver operator and maintainer training for end-users.
- Capture, document, and escalate field feedback to inform product improvements.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers across a diverse range of technical and cultural backgrounds.
- Provide remote and on-the-ground technical support to customers
- Conduct engineering investigation and analysis to resolve technical issues with limited support
- Develop and maintain documentation of DroneShield systems and processes to ensure continual improvements over time
- Establish and maintain close relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers. Develop strong, reliable channels of communication with end customers from a range of technical and cultural backgrounds
- Keep yourself up to date with the latest technologies, tools and methods to be effective in your role.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Engineering or similar (quantitative) university degree is highly regarded
- Experience in a Field Service Engineering role, providing technical support directly to customers and managing projects with engineering teams
- Experience in networking devices (essential)
- Proficient with Linux operating system (essential)
- Experience in testing of complex systems
- Experience with telecommunications, radio frequency, and/or electronic warfare is highly regarded
- Knowledge from a range of engineering fields and history collaborating with stakeholders and subject matter experts from a variety of backgrounds
- Existing NATO Security Clearance is preferred but not essential
