As a Senior Mechanical Development Engineer, you will play a key role in driving innovation projects within the dosing, dispensing, and dilution domain — from initial concept development through to design, validation, and final implementation. You will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design, development, prototyping, testing, documentation, and supplier collaboration, ensuring compliance with Diversey’s quality and engineering standards.
In this role, you’ll be part of a dynamic cross-functional innovation team consisting of engineers, packaging specialists, chemists, and scientists. We are looking for a motivated and hands-on engineer with a passion for innovation and a strong ability to manage technical complexity in a structured and quality-focused manner.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and development of parts and assemblies using CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks).
Create and maintain detailed specification documents, drawings, quality plans, and test requirements.
Collaborate in cross-functional innovation projects with colleagues from R&D, Marketing, and Supply Chain to define and meet product requirements.
Work with suppliers and production partners to scale up from prototypes to final production tools and moulds.
Build and test prototypes using in-house facilities and evaluate mechanical systems for robustness and performance.
Ensure systems are developed with appropriate quality and attention to detail.
Conduct verification and validation activities to confirm design meets defined requirements.
Support supplier evaluation processes together with the Supply Chain team.
Document findings from testing, field returns, and sample evaluations in technical reports, providing innovative and pragmatic solutions to issues.
Coach and mentor junior engineers within the development team.
Oversee work carried out by external design partners and ensure timely delivery and alignment with project goals.
Ensure full technical documentation is available and complete at project handover.
Qualifications and Skills

Strong understanding of plastics manufacturing, especially injection moulding.
Experience in project management and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong hands-on prototyping and workshop skills.
Fluent in English.
Willingness to travel occasionally within and outside Europe.
Preferred:
Experience with Design for Lean Six Sigma or other structured development methodologies.
Knowledge of chemical compatibility and material interactions.
Familiarity with fluidics, fluid pumping, and dispensing systems.
Understanding of mechatronics/electronics, including sensors, PLCs, microcontrollers, or IoT applications.
Awareness of water regulations and standards applicable to mechanical systems.
Experience working in or supporting chemical packaging production environments.
