Interim Head of HQ Finance 100% – 9 months
Based in Amsterdam Office
We are seeking an Interim Head of HQ Finance for a period of 9 months. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations in the Netherlands, ensuring compliance with internal and external financial regulations, and supporting strategic financial planning. You will report to the Director of Finance and Business Operations, work in partnership with the Head of Operational Finance, and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure financial integrity and transparency.
The ideal starting date for this interim position is 01 August 2025.
Main responsibilities
Ensure financial integrity and compliance by overseeing MSF-NL’s financial reporting, audit processes, and internal controls to safeguard the organization’s financial reputation.
Lead treasury and strategic cash planning, including forecasting, liquidity management, and representing OCA in international treasury and hedging programs.
Advise senior leadership—including the Director of Finance and Business Operations, Management Team, and Board—on financial strategy, multi-year planning, and risk mitigation.
Manage and develop finance teams, including HQ Accounting, Inheritances & Legacies, and the Financial Controller, fostering collaboration and capability growth.
Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and technologies, ensuring alignment with institutional knowledge and cross-OC consistency.
Represent MSF-NL/OCA Finance within OCA and externally.
Candidate profile
Relevant education in finance with demonstratable finance leadership experience.
Ability to articulate a strategic vision for the Finance department, with a focus on supporting the forthcoming Finance HQ structure review.
Due to the short-term interim nature of this role, we require previous MSF experience
Fluency in English, written and verbal
Competences
Strategic Financial Leadership – Ability to guide long-term financial planning, treasury management, and scenario forecasting in a complex international environment.
Compliance and Risk Oversight – Skilled in managing audit processes, internal controls, and ensuring adherence to Dutch and international financial standards.
Team Development and People Management – Capacity to lead diverse finance teams and build capabilities aligned with strategic goals in a safe and inspiring working environment.
Cross-Organizational Collaboration – Comfortable working across departments and Operational Centres, promoting harmonized financial practices and shared learning.
Analytical and Advisory Acumen – Strong ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights to senior leadership and governance bodies.
Representation and Influence – Confident in representing MSF-NL/OCA in international finance platforms and steering committees, advocating for shared priorities.
We offer
A challenging interim position on a 9-month basis.
A gross monthly salary between €5,922 and €8,153 a month depending on relevant work experience, based on a fulltime appointment
30 days off (based on a full-time employment)
A premium free pension where MSF covers 100% of the monthly pension contribution
8% holiday allowance, paid out with the salary in May
