Preventing Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing is one of the fundamental aspects of our society and our organization, and as a bank, we play a crucial role in this field. Within Rabobank, we have built a data-driven solution that analyses over 11 million transactions daily to detect customers who launder money or finance terrorists. As the behavioural patterns of criminals constantly evolve, our solution needs to adapt and become just as quickly. To keep our solution flexible and stable, we need intelligent individuals like yourself who are passionate about extending and improving our current Transaction Monitoring (TM) solutions.

To keep our TM solution up to date to fight financial crime, you are passionate about working together in a team where you provide your expertise to enable the team to make better-informed decisions regarding the technical design and implementation of analytical solutions. This way, you make sure Rabobank will be able to fight financial crime effectively.

Practical examples

• You contribute to existing code bases that process and transform transaction data
• You collaborate and align with other Data Scientist and relevant stakeholders to realize the business requirements of our technical solution
• You perform ad hoc (impact) analysis in our Databricks environment

The ~200 people in our Transaction Monitoring team are responsible for detecting money laundering and terrorism financing risks, using analytics models. You and your talent

• Academic degree (MSc / Phd) in Data Science, Computing Science, Econometrics, Mathematics or a related field.
• 1 or 2 years of experience as Data Scientist
• Affinity with advanced analytics / modelling / artificial intelligence activities (ideally working with large data sets) working with Python. PySpark and Databricks experience is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Motivated to catch criminals by making our TM system more effective; in other words, you are motivated to build models that realize measurable impact for the bank, not necessarily to build the most complex advanced analytics models.
• Structured, precise, communicative, can work well with different people and roles, pro-active, have a business focus and can-do mentality to make a difference in fighting financial crime
