Lecturer (docent) in the field of global challenges and international justice, with a focus on statehood and integration (0,5 fte).

LUC The Hague seeks to appoint a lecturer (docent) to join the LUC staff for teaching primarily in its International Justice major and the first-year programme. The starting date is December 2025.

What you will do
The lecturer will be, inter alia, required to teach several courses, with an emphasis on the courses that are part of the ‘statehood and integration’ track of the International Justice major, and courses within the first-year Global Challenges programme. The position may also involve the supervision of B.A. theses as well as teaching in the shared ‘International Justice/World Politics’ track.

The lecturer should show clear affinity with the ‘Global Challenges’ focus of our programme, which is also linked to the profile of The Hague as ‘International City of Peace and Justice’. They should have a degree reflecting academic knowledge in the domain of international justice, with a focus on ‘statehood and integration’ (constitutional law, EU law, foreign relations law, etc.). In addition, they should also have some experience with societal engagement in these domains. LUC The Hague is Leiden University’s international honours college, which champions small-scale intensive teaching. Hence, strong commitment to teaching excellence is essential.

  • Teaching undergraduate students in our interdisciplinary honours programme as part of the compulsory first year programme as well as in the ‘statehood and integration’ track of the International Justice major, and potentially also the shared ‘International Justice/World Politics’ track.
  • Potentially supervising B.A. theses in the abovementioned fields.

Where you will work
