Main Purpose of Role
The Logistics Analyst is responsible for the management, direction and coordination of all international logistics movements within Abbott Nutrition, and support the development of logistics solutions, through day-to-day management of service providers, to achieve a leading and cost-effective world class supply chain for Abbott.
Main Responsibilities:
- The Logistics Analyst will be required to establish and maintain effective relationships with manufacturing, planning, customer service, logistics, country organizations and customs compliance. The logistics analyst will also establish and maintain relationships with third party service provides.
- The Logistics Analyst will help to improve margin & profit for Freight & Distribution for Abbott by collaborating with stakeholders around the world. Responsible for identifying improvements in the logistic processes, such as calculating adequate levels of stock, defining optimal transportation routes, etc.
- Responsible to comply with all import and export regulations.
- Responsible to ensure prompt, accurate and efficient handling of communications and shipments to meet and maintain business excellence requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for responsible area, perform room cause analysis, and develop and implement correction action plans to improve levels of performance.
- Conduct operational evaluation of logistics programs and develops recommendations for program improvements.
- Lead in negotiations with service provider transportation rates and warehouse rates through RFI, RFQ & RFP processes, according to Abbott policies and procedures.
- Operate, maintain and support development of the Transportation Management System, supporting improved transportation planning execution and efficiency, freight cost accruing and visibility, performance visibility and measurement.
- Provide input to achieve the most optimal transportation mode for Abbott, the best possible customer service, product & process compliance, against the lowest cost possible.
- Be up to date on and collect market intelligence on present and future service providers, global and regional transportation solutions and developments. Represent Abbott Logistics in the appropriate transportation network organizations, where applicable and in support to Abbott.
- Acting as a project manager, recommend, evaluate and implement domestic and international logistics projects in order to support the identification of the most cost effective distribution and transportation patters for Abbott’s products, while maintain or improving service, in line with division goals.
- Provide data and analysis to support long range planning to ensure that the distribution of products to Abbott customers is both timely and economical.
- Influence personnel in other organization to maintain smooth and efficient distribution operations.
- Provide training support for new personnel.
- Provide logistics system knowledge and support for sites and affiliates.
- Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Develops and maintains project plans, recommendations and findings.
- Provide operational support on production-to-stock, order-to-cash and transportation processes.
- Support the day to day operations for inbound and outbound transportation for appointed carriers, including domestic and international shipping.
- Review the defined KPI’s regularly (a.o. volumes, cost, “on-time” performances), to improve customer service, increase efficiency and reduce distribution cost.
- Review & improve logistics metrics, as needed.
- Develop & maintain operational and analysis support tools for logistics.
- Responsible for generating reports that show logistics costs on specific projects or shipments.
- Daily follow up on key metrics, as well as RCA & CAPA.
- Conduct (lead where applicable) WBR, MBR & QBR’s with service provides and Abbott business representatives.
- Implement new, and maintain existing, contracts, agreements and pricing with service providers.
- Support freight bill auditing.
- Responds to inquiries and requests from other teams, such as customer service.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of logistics, including transportation (multimodal), distribution and warehouse processes; Works well with limited supervision on standard issues while exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action.
- Self-motivated, with a desire to learn and improve the team’s processes
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Maintain constant communication/interaction with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quick responses and satisfactory outcomes
- Knowledge of GDP; Good understanding of Quality Assurance principles
- Knowledge of international transportation regulations;
- Experienced with business management principles and techniques
- Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
- Experience with temperature controlled, and/or dangerous goods shipments and processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven professional level of experience in areas as research, planning, design, operations and development, Cross-functional project management capabilities and experience
- Experience interacting with external suppliers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas;
- Coordination of activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organizations
- Establishes objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives
- Capable of understanding and mapping processes that span various functional areas.
Education Level
- Bachelors Degree in Economics, Supply Chain or Logistics Management, (International) Business Administration
