About this role
As our Privacy and Compliance Legal Counsel, you will be part of the Legal and Compliance team within the DPO Office, supporting the global team on a range of legal matters related to global privacy and data protection, including accreditation standards.
Our DPO Office is the central team that acts as a pivot for the facilitation of privacy and compliance related matters all around Just Eat Takeaway.com. You will work with a variety of colleagues in a dynamic and innovative organisation using your communication skills to answer questions and present clear information. You contribute to our journey while learning new skills and grow your career.
Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from our Amsterdam office & 2 days working from home. Reporting to: Senior Privacy Officer
These are some of the key components to the position:
- Oversee and maintain privacy documentation (agreements, privacy notices, marketing consent and cookie statements) to ensure compliance with global regulations (e.g., GDPR, e-Privacy, ISO, NIST).
- Support colleagues on privacy matters including (D)PIAs, RoPA, DSRs, and relevant case law developments.
- Conduct horizon scanning and maintain legislative requirement trackers across countries, assessing impacts on JET and setting out measures to implement.
- Manage more complex legal privacy claims, including court cases, and assist with requests from Data Protection Authorities.
- Develop and deliver internal training and workshops and create templates and guidelines to strengthen privacy awareness and understanding across the business.
- Provide support on compliance matters such as anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and ethics policies, contributing to reporting and risk frameworks.
In addition you will be providing support to the compliance team.
Key tasks include:
- maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory framework on anti-bribery and corruption and determining how changes affect JET.
- Support the review of the Code of Conduct and other key ethics and compliance policies in line with industry standards, best practices, and regulations
What will you bring to the team?
- Inhouse counsel experience with a strong knowledge of data protection laws, with the ability to translate regulations into practical, business-enabling solutions.
- Background in privacy with interest in expanding into compliance; experience across compliance, ethics, or risk is a plus.
- Ability to explain complex requirements clearly, fostering understanding and accountability across teams.
- Skilled at balancing independent work with collaboration across functions and geographies.
- Comfortable managing varied workloads while delivering high-quality, business-focused outcomes.
- Inclusive mindset, building trust and alignment with diverse colleagues and stakeholders.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional languages are an advantage.
