Your position
The Scientist Bioinformatics is an experienced professional in the Bioinformatics & Software Development team who will perform research activities on large-scale genomic data. A significant part of your research will be focused on development of novel ML/AI tools and methods to accelerate interpretation of functional genomic data, ultimately providing leads for plant breeding. You will be responsible for initiating and executing innovative research projects in close collaboration with our strategic partners and clients. You are an innovator in your field and will work closely with the Team Leads, (Senior) Project Leads, fellow Scientists, the Head of Innovation & Application and other colleagues from the Genomics, Genetics & Breeding, and Bioinformatics & Software Development teams.
Your profile
- Master's or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science or a related field
- A creative scientist with more than five years of post M.Sc. experience in working with ML/AI methods, preferably related to genomic data. Industry experience is beneficial
- Interested in working in a scientific contract research company
- Excellent understanding of machine learning algorithms and genomic data
- Proficient in python, R or other relevant programming language, with a good grasp of version control systems (git)
- Sensitive to client’s needs and capable of translating opportunities into attractive research proposals
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in English
- A highly motivated individual who seeks high quality standards in his/her professional employment and values transparency and accountability
- Strong team player, efficiently working and sharing knowledge in multidisciplinary project teams
