About this role
We are launching a critical finance transformation initiative to accelerate our Month-End Close (MEC) and meet new group reporting deadlines. The Finance Transformation Lead Accountant will be a key driver of this project, acting as the subject matter expert and change champion for our Record-to-Report (R2R) processes.
Combining deep accounting expertise with a passion for process improvement, you will lead the redesign and implementation of streamlined, efficient, and automated financial processes that will enable a faster, more reliable close.
You will be a hands-on leader within the MEC Streamline project, responsible for guiding specific workstreams from discovery through to implementation. You will facilitate workshops, map existing processes, design future-state solutions, and work with stakeholders across the business to ensure successful adoption of new ways of working.
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
Process Design and Optimization: Lead a comprehensive review of existing Record to Report (R2R) processes—such as Intercompany, Leases, and Payroll—to pinpoint inefficiencies. Then, design and document new, streamlined processes that reduce manual tasks, strengthen controls, and shorten the month-end close (MEC) timeline.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with global finance teams to create a revised, strategic MEC schedule that balances workload and increases efficiency.
Policy and Procedure Management: Update accounting policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect the newly designed processes, ensuring all documentation is current and accurate.
Project Leadership: Act as the functional lead for project workstreams, defining key deliverables and ensuring their successful completion. This includes partnering with IT to define system requirements for automation in platforms like Workday and OneStream.
Change Management and Training: Develop and implement a robust change management plan, including stakeholder communications and training materials, to ensure a smooth transition and adoption of new processes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate workshops and meetings with various stakeholders, including Country Finance Leads and Business Partners, to gather requirements, build consensus, and clearly communicate project updates and outcomes.
Compliance and Governance: Ensure all redesigned processes are compliant with IFRS and internal control requirements, and maintain thorough documentation for audit readiness.
What Will You Bring to the Table?
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with proven post-qualification experience in a senior financial role, specifically focused on financial control and the Record-to-Report (R2R) cycle.
Possesses a deep understanding of IFRS and internal control frameworks, with expert knowledge of end-to-end R2R processes in large, multi-national organizations.
Proven experience in leading or contributing to finance transformation projects, including process improvement and large-scale system implementations, with a preference for Workday Financials and OneStream.
Strong project management skills and proficiency in process mapping methodologies.
Excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills, demonstrating the ability to drive change effectively across diverse teams and cultures.
A strategic and resilient professional with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and the ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts to various audiences.
Highly adaptable and results-oriented, thriving in dynamic and project-driven environments.
