Currently we would like to bring on board a dynamic and positive-minded student to support and learn from our Impact Equities and Bonds team during a 6-month internship.
Profile
How you will make a difference
You will help us to ‘change finance to finance change’, by supporting our Impact Equities and Bonds team in strengthening due diligence and risk evaluation of portfolio companies’ with activities and relationships in conflict-affected and high-risk areas (CAHRA).
As a part of your daily routine:
- You will conduct research into international frameworks and companies’ best practices related to heightened human rights due diligence
- You will design an in-depth human rights due diligence and risk evaluation process for portfolio companies with operations/partnerships in CAHRA, with particular focus on tech companies
- You will update internal policies on human rights based on research findings
- You will participate in meetings with portfolio companies and other relevant organisations, with the aim of gaining direct insight into practical approaches to human rights due diligence (and to other ESG topics)
- You will contribute to regular tasks of sustainability analysts by conducting sustainability assessments of companies’ policies and practices related to a range of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) topics as needed.
- You will be able to collaborate with another intern working on different but overlapping themes. You will report to the responsible sustainability analysts.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- be a motivated student (HBO or WO) who is interested in applying theoretical human rights frameworks to business practice
- have a strong interest in the human rights implications of business and curiosity about sustainability in the technology industry (a background in international relations, applied ethics or similar areas is a plus, but not necessary)
- be able to work independently, although you will work closely with two experienced members of the team
- be able (or willing to learn) to navigate dilemmas on how to balance principles with real-world constraints
- have a strong command of the English language (all research and team meetings are conducted in English)
- need to be living in the Netherlands and be able to come to the office at least 2-3 days per week

The department of Impact Equities and Bonds (IE&B) at Triodos Investment Management (TIM) focuses on investments in listed companies. We apply strict investment criteria (Minimum Standards) to ensure adherence to Triodos’ stated values and principles when investing in large corporations and to make sure our clients know where their money goes.
