Join Our Journey Towards Fossil-Free Living as Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Our Battery Engineering Circle focuses on developing, building, and operating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). We are a self-organized, dynamic team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation in renewable energy storage.
As one of our BESS Engineers, you will be developing and overseeing the design, integration, and safety standards for our battery energy storage solutions. You’ll provide technical solutions across the entire project portfolio, ensuring excellence in every stage of the engineering lifecycle.
What You Will Do
In this technical execution-focused role, you will drive the engineering and technical development of our BESS projects, ensuring highest engineering standards throughout the project lifecycle and contributing to innovation in tools and methodologies.
Key responsibilties include:
Engineering Design and Feasibility: Develop and oversee technical work packages, ensuring optimal system design from both technical and commercial perspectives.
Delivery Oversight & Continuous Improvement: Technical delivery of monitoring progress and quality during the delivery phase, supporting the Project Manager. Ensure that lessons learned on technical matters are captured and processed for portfolio-wide improvement.
Technical Ownership of BESS Layouts and Technical Drawings: Lead BESS layout development by streamlining early-stage designs, maintaining standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, guiding project teams, and continuously improving documentation and templates.
Tool and Methodology Development: Create and refine engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance project outcomes and technical practices.
Supplier Management: Collaborate with Procurement to manage supplier relationships, assess technical feasibility, and negotiate project-specific agreements.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to align technical objectives with broader project goals, ensuring effective communication and integration.
Qualifications
Education
- A Master’s degree in engineering (preferred) or a Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience in disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering.
- Business fluency in German and English required
- A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in engineering roles, ideally in renewable energy, energy storage, or adjacent industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software. Experience with permitting documentation and authorities is a plus.
- Project management qualifications such as IPMA, PMP, or similar are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Systems engineering qualifications such as INCOSE are also advantageous but not a requirement.
